Some thoughts on the 30,000 troops headed to Afghanistan

Do you feel the need to hit Afghanistan hard as all holy fuck? I sure do! But before you think I'm all pro-war and what-not, think again... I would like nothing more than World Peace and to end fighting everywhere.  War is serious business and should NEVER be a first response, even if attacked first.  With that said, I feel like exercising some freedom of speech and the power of the Internet after watching/listening to Obama's address to the Nation last evening.  If you are reading this and you have comments either way, feel free to comment/respond, however please do so in as civil of a manner possible, else I may not respond (or your comment may be removed depending on how foul you decided to be).

I really liked the way Obama started his address, and I'll paraphrase...

On 9/11 we were attacked by the Taliban, whom were based in Afghanistan... For the 1st time in history, the UN backed a full on attack in retaliation to this un-warranted attack resulting in the loss of many innocent American lives... So the USA, and other nations did attack Afghanistan, but then some stoopid fcuk with his Daddy's agenda refocused the US forces on Iraq and pissed a lot of Nations off in the process.. Using the 'fair and balanced' Fox News the previous administration convinced many of our fellow Americans that we were chasing Bin Laden and the Taliban who were hiding in Iraq (we were not. it was 'cause Bush Sr. told W to go get Saddam and finish what he failed to do... oh yeah and the oil). Well, we're getting the hell outta Iraq ASAP and gonna finish what we, with the support of the UN and its' forces, started.

To that I say... HOOO-AH!

As scary is it is, do I think we should be going back into Afghanistan? Hell Yes! We, along with the other UN member forces, need to finish what we started. Furthermore, we must do it under a well-defined time-table that ends when Obama's term ends, if not before. Why by the end of his term? Very important... So the next administration can not pull any more wool over America's eyes and get us into another Iraq. If it wasn't for wanting to remain on US soil to protect my family, I would be active army right now...

Peace first, but if someone needs an ass-whoopin, by all means give it to 'em!

This Thursday: US Senate Committee To Debate Reevaluating The Drug War!

Legalize It Bulletin

Posted by Sabrina At Norml

This Thursday, December 3, members of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee will debate Senate Bill 714, The National Criminal Justice Commission Act of 2009.

Senate Bill 714 will establish a `National Criminal Justice Commission’ to “undertake a comprehensive review of the criminal justice system … and make reform recommendations for the President.” The lead sponsor of this measure, Democrat Senator Jim Webb of Virginia, has remarked that this review ought to include a debate of federal marijuana policy, including regulating marijuana like alcohol.

It’s been many years since a federally appointed commission has taken an objective look at American criminal justice policies, and it’s been nearly 40 years since federal lawmakers have undertaken a critical examination of U.S. marijuana policy. Please take time today to urge your United States senators to support Senate Bill 714. If your senators sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee, then it is especially important that that they hear from you. For your convenience, a pre-written letter will be e-mailed to your members of Congress when you enter your contact information here:

After you have written your senators, please take a moment to write or call Sen. Webb and thank him for raising this important issue.

Thank you for assisting NORML’s federal law reform efforts.

Stay free and keep fighting,

The NORML Team

Kinda warms the Cockles...

Well Sorta... ;-P

Happy Thanks-Giving!

From: President Barack Obama <info@barackobama.com>
Date: November 25, 2009 5:16:52 PM EST

Friend --

Tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, Americans across the country will sit down together, count our blessings, and give thanks for our families and our loved ones.

American families reflect the diversity of this great nation. No two are exactly alike, but there is a common thread they each share.

Our families are bound together through times of joy and times of grief. They shape us, support us, instill the values that guide us as individuals, and make possible all that we achieve.

So tomorrow, I'll be giving thanks for my family -- for all the wisdom, support, and love they have brought into my life.

But tomorrow is also a day to remember those who cannot sit down to break bread with those they love.

The soldier overseas holding down a lonely post and missing his kids. The sailor who left her home to serve a higher calling. The folks who must spend tomorrow apart from their families to work a second job, so they can keep food on the table or send a child to school.

We are grateful beyond words for the service and hard work of so many Americans who make our country great through their sacrifice. And this year, we know that far too many face a daily struggle that puts the comfort and security we all deserve painfully out of reach.

So when we gather tomorrow, let us also use the occasion to renew our commitment to building a more peaceful and prosperous future that every American family can enjoy.

It seems like a lifetime ago that a crowd met on a frigid February morning in Springfield, Illinois to set out on an improbable course to change our nation.

In the years since, Michelle and I have been blessed with the support and friendship of the millions of Americans who have come together to form this ongoing movement for change.

You have been there through victories and setbacks. You have given of yourselves beyond measure. You have enabled all that we have accomplished -- and you have had the courage to dream yet bigger dreams for what we can still achieve.

So in this season of thanks giving, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to you, and my anticipation of the brighter future we are creating together.

With warmest wishes for a happy holiday season from my family to yours,

President Barack Obama
